(More customer reviews)I mostly paint with acrylics, but picked up this particular palette for occasional use with my gouaches and watercolors. It works well enough for that purpose. A few notes:
The little flip-up panel is for putting your thumb through when you're painting with the palette in hand. (Maybe that's obvious to others, but it wasn't to me.) Given its placement, it doesn't seem like it'd work as well for that purpose if you're not holding the palette in your left hand.
The holes around the thumb hole are for holding your brushes. As with the thumb hole, these aren't at all useful if you paint with the palette sitting on a flat surface, as I usually do.
I was particularly pleased with the number of available wells for different colors. The wells and mixing areas in the right-side / top panel aren't as useful if you intend to close up the palette for travel, storage, etc., as you'll have to clean all of that side up unless you want a goulash of colors.
There's a small brush-storage area (I guess), but it was too small to be useful to me.
The palette is designed to fold closed, as you can see from the picture, but it doesn't actually seal around the edges, and it can open under moderate coercion from circumstance (like dropping it on the floor...ahem.). This also means that it won't keep your paints wet without external assistance via plastic bag or the like.
Overall, good enough, but not spectacular. As another reviewer points out, you'll find it cheaper elsewhere than through this particular vendor, especially if you can avoid shipping charges; Michael's has it for cheap, Blick's has it for even cheaper and in two sizes (and a deal for free or discounted shipping, depending on the size of your order), and it's probably carried by several other art and/or craft stores, some of which should start vending their wares through Amazon....
