I used this recently for painting some unfinished wood shelves that are going outside as plant stands. I also used it to paint plain terra cotta pots, and some plain gray paver stones. Both the pots and the pavers were wonderful. I experimented with mixing Patio Paint gloss with a colored Patio Paint and got some great watercolor effects on the pots. The pavers are ready for any type of ornamentation after a base coat of Patio Paint.
The results were wonderful! The paint goes on smoothly, self levels ( no brush strokes after drying) goes on quickly and dries fast. It makes a slightly glossy finish on wood. You can stencil over it or paint over with other colors of patio paint. It works very well. If you are stenciling, you should know that this paint is thinner than other craft paints so your stencil brush should be very dry to prevent running.
This paint comes in many different colors, including rusts, ochers, slate grey, and many that would work for faux finishes on pavers or concrete floors or patios.as well as a large size bottle of clear sealer. The paint itself has a primer and a sealer built in, so the unfinished wood items were completely done with 2 thin coats-no primer, no top coat.
I've used water on the finished plant stands, and it just beads up. If you are careful and fill in the joints with paint you should have no trouble putting wooden items outside after using Patio Paint.
