(More customer reviews)A friend was shopping for a birthday tie for her dad, and her search was less than successful, considering that he might wear this tie for just the one day, maybe for each of a couple of years. We even checked for possible retail tie sources on the Amazon website, but there was only one possible tie. So, we had this great idea that we would illustrate and paint our own designer brand of ties, using the Creamcoat textile paints.
So, we checked the tie rack and found some rather nice but pale looking ties to "practice on". It worked! We started with our graph paper and drew various artistic symbols that circulated in his life: an artist's paint brush, a birthday cake, cookies, and even a favorite toy from his childhood. When our designs got too big, we photo-copied them smaller, and transferred the designs to the pale-looking tie using a transfer sheet which would leave the sketches as is until they were painted over with the textile paint.
To be safe, there was time allowed in between colors painted on the tie, and overnight hours to dry the finished product, and "voila!" The Birthday Tie was done, and we were thrilled with our gift. With only a few days to spare, the Birthday Tie was ready for gifting. All that was left was our wish: "Happy Birthday!"
